Tesla 2026 Free Supercharging Competition: How to Enter and Win for Life

Tesla is giving away free Supercharging for life to 9 winners based on your 2026 charging activity. The competition already started — here

Tesla 2026 Free Supercharging Competition: How to Enter and Win for Life

Tesla has quietly launched one of the most compelling competitions in its history: the 2026 Free Supercharging Competition, which will award nine Tesla owners free Supercharging for as long as they own their vehicle. The prize has no expiration date, no monthly cap, and no cash-out option — it is simply free charging, forever, for as long as you drive your Tesla.

The competition is already underway. Every Supercharger session you have had since January 1, 2026 is already being counted. Here is everything you need to know to compete.

winners worldwide  ·  3 categories  ·  3 regions

The three categories — pick your lane

Tesla is awarding one winner per category per region, for nine total prizes. You compete in the same category across all three automatically — you do not pick one. Whichever stat you lead in at year-end is the one that counts for you.

🗺️

Longest Trip

The longest continuous streak of unique Supercharger locations, where each new site is visited within 24 hours of your previous session.

📍

Most Unique Sites

The highest number of distinct Supercharger locations visited across the entire 2026 calendar year.

Most Energy

The highest total kilowatt-hours charged at Superchargers in 2026. Best category for high-mileage daily drivers.

One important rule on the Longest Trip category: repeat visits to a site you already counted are allowed during a trip, but they do not reset the 24-hour timer or add to your trip's length. To extend a streak, you must reach a brand new unique location within 24 hours of your last session ending at a different site.

The three regions

Your region is determined by where you charge most — not where you live. After December 31, 2026, Tesla will assign you to whichever region you visited the most unique Supercharger sites in. In the event of a tie, total energy charged in kWh breaks it.

Americas

North and South America. All countries with Superchargers.

Asia-Pacific

Asia-Pacific and Oceania. China runs its own separate, independent competition.

EMEA

Europe, Middle East and Africa. Several countries excluded due to local regulations.

How to enroll — do not skip this step

Charging activity counts automatically from January 1, 2026. But you are not entered unless you open the 2026 Passport screen in the Tesla app before January 1, 2027. Miss that window and none of your year's data counts, even if you would have won.

1

Download the latest Tesla app

The 2026 Passport feature launches in December 2026. Make sure your app is updated when it goes live.

2

Enable Share Charging Data

On your vehicle's touchscreen go to Charging, then toggle on "Share Charging Data with Tesla App." Without this, your sessions do not feed into your stats.

3

Open the 2026 Passport before January 1, 2027

This is your enrollment action. Your stats are recorded every time you visit the Passport screen. Your final stats are based on your last visit before the deadline.

Key dates
  • Jan 1, 2026All Supercharger sessions from this date onward already count — even before this announcement.
  • Dec 20262026 Passport feature launches in the Tesla app. Enrollment opens.
  • Dec 31, 2026Competition period ends at 23:59 your local time. Last day to rack up sessions.
  • Jan 1, 2027Hard enrollment deadline. You must have opened the Passport at least once before this date.
  • Jan 2027Winners notified by email. Tesla announces on @TeslaCharging on X.
  • Mar 1, 2027Free Supercharging applied to winning vehicle.

What the prize actually means

What you get if you win
  • Free Supercharging at Tesla-owned Supercharger sites for as long as you own or lease the winning vehicle
  • No monthly limit or cap stated — it is open-ended free charging
  • Prize is tied to your Tesla account and the specific winning vehicle
  • No entry fee, no purchase required beyond normal session costs
  • Tesla will not use your name or image for marketing without your explicit consent
Who cannot win
  • Vehicles that already have free Supercharging
  • Vehicles used commercially — rideshare, taxi, or delivery services
  • Tesla employees and their immediate family
  • Residents of countries not included in a competition region
  • Anyone who does not open the 2026 Passport before January 1, 2027

One important caveat: free Supercharging cannot be transferred. If you sell the vehicle or your lease ends, the prize is revoked. It does not carry over to a new car or a new owner. Plan accordingly before listing the vehicle.

Strategy: how to maximize your chances

Tips for each category
  • For Longest Trip: plan a road trip now with as many unique Supercharger stops as possible, chaining sessions within 24 hours. The more stops per day, the longer your streak.
  • For Most Unique Sites: prioritize variety over volume. Every new location you have never charged at before adds to your count. Detour to a new site instead of returning to a familiar one.
  • For Most Energy: this is the category for Tesla owners who drive a lot. Long highway commutes, high-mileage road trips, and large battery vehicles all help. A Model S or Cybertruck charging to 100% multiple times per week will accumulate kWh fast.
  • Enable Share Charging Data now — do not wait until December. Sessions without data sharing enabled may not count.
  • Open the 2026 Passport the moment it launches in December and again after your final session of the year to make sure all sessions are recorded.
  • If a session is missing from your stats, contact Tesla through the app before January 1, 2027. Disputes submitted after that date will not be considered.

The big picture

Tesla discontinued free lifetime Supercharging as a purchase incentive years ago. That made it a perk exclusive to early adopters — until now. This competition opens the door for any current Tesla owner to earn back one of the most valuable perks the company has ever offered.

Nine winners. Three regions. One prize that pays off every time you plug in — for as long as you own the car.

The competition is also notable for what it is not: there is no random draw, no lottery element, and no luck involved. Winners are determined entirely by measurable charging behavior. The person who charges the most, travels the furthest, or hits the most unique sites wins. That makes it one of the fairest competitions Tesla has ever run.

The 2026 Supercharging Competition is already running. If you have charged at a Supercharger at any point this year, you already have stats on the board. The only thing left to do before December is keep charging, diversify your stops if you are targeting the unique sites or longest trip categories, and make sure you open the 2026 Passport the moment it appears in the Tesla app. The deadline for enrollment is hard — miss January 1, 2027, and the year does not count.
