How the EV3 Compares With the Bolt and Leaf
The EV3 lands in the same price bracket as America's other sub-$32,000 electric cars. When they launched, the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt was priced at $29,990 including destination with 262 miles of range, and the 2026 Nissan Leaf started at $31,485 including destination with up to 303 miles. The EV3 Light, at $31,385 delivered, sits between them on price but trails both on range. The EV3's case is that it's a small SUV rather than a hatchback, and that its 321-mile trims beat both rivals' best numbers.
Inside Kia's own lineup, the EV3 starts roughly $8,000 below the EV6 and nearly $10,000 below the Niro EV, which Kia is dropping after the 2026 model year, according to InsideEVs.
No federal tax credit: the $7,500 federal EV tax credit ended on September 30, 2025, so the EV3's sticker price is what buyers pay before any state or local incentives. Kia also has not officially confirmed where US-market EV3s are built. The model launched in South Korea, and Kia has finalized plans to assemble it in Mexico.
Kia October 2026 Sales: Sixth Straight Record Month
The EV3 is arriving at a busy moment for Kia. The brand sold 80,008 vehicles in the US in October, up 16% from 69,002 a year earlier. It was Kia's sixth consecutive month of record sales. Retail sales climbed 20% to 68,926. Through ten months, Kia has sold 747,394 vehicles, up from 705,150 at this point in 2025.
Electrified sales rose 112% and hybrid sales rose 114%, both records. Much of that came from hybrid versions of the Sorento, Carnival and Sportage, while Kia's three EVs also posted big gains against a weak October 2025, the first month after the federal credit expired.
| Model | Oct 2026 | Oct 2025 | YTD 2026 | YTD 2025 |
| EV9 | 1,406 | 666 | 13,835 | 13,114 |
| EV3 | 976 | 0 | 1,496 | 0 |
| EV6 | 803 | 508 | 7,067 | 11,585 |
| Sportage | 17,977 | 16,057 | 163,723 | 150,159 |
| Telluride | 14,009 | 8,571 | 124,047 | 101,069 |
| Kia total | 80,008 | 69,002 | 747,394 | 705,150 |
Together, the EV9, EV3 and EV6 accounted for 3,185 sales in October, up from 1,174 a year earlier. Still, that's about 4% of Kia's volume. The EV6 is down 39% for the year, and the EV9 is up just 5%. The EV3 is already outselling the EV6 month to month, which suggests price, not interest, has been the main hurdle for Kia's electric lineup.
"With six consecutive months of record-breaking sales, Kia is accelerating toward a fourth straight annual sales record."
— Eric Watson, vice president of sales operations, Kia America
The bottom line: The 2027 Kia EV3 is in US showrooms now from $29,890, or $31,385 with destination. The best value for most buyers is likely the Wind FWD at $34,990, which brings the 81.4 kWh battery and 321 miles of EPA range. With a native Supercharger port and 31-minute fast charging, it's one of the most complete affordable EVs on sale. Kia sold 976 in October, and with the federal credit gone, a sub-$30,000 sticker matters more than ever.
