Tesla Introduces New Model Y Long Range AWD in the U.S. — Launch Series Discontinued

April 4, 2025 — Tesla has quietly but significantly refreshed its Model Y lineup in the United States with the introduction of a new non-Launch Series Model Y Long Range AWD, now available for $48,990 before incentives. This update comes as the company discontinues the previously offered Launch Series Model Y and eliminates the Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant from its U.S. offerings.

What’s New?

The newly introduced Model Y Long Range AWD replaces the earlier version that was priced at $47,990. While the new model sees a $1,000 price increase, it also represents a shift in Tesla’s trim strategy — removing limited edition elements from the Launch Series and streamlining production for broader availability.

Fresh Paint Options

Tesla is also rolling out two new paint color options for U.S. buyers:

    Solid BlackDeep Blue Metallic

These colors were previously available in select regions but are now part of the North American configuration for the first time with this release.

Say Goodbye to the Launch Series and RWD

The Launch-Series Model Y, which included exclusive features and early-buyer incentives, has now been officially discontinued in North America. Additionally, the Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) version is no longer available in the U.S. market. Currently, Tesla is only offering All-Wheel Drive configurations for the Model Y in the region.
