The Numbers Behind the Name
BYD hasn't published full specs alongside the sketches, but Chinese regulatory filings from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, released in June, already revealed most of the hard numbers. The Da Han measures 5,256 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, and 1,510 mm tall, on a 3,130 mm wheelbase — for reference, that makes it slightly longer overall than a current Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Three versions are planned: two battery-electric configurations and one plug-in hybrid.
| Version | CLTC Range | Power | Curb Weight |
| BEV, single-motor (RWD) | 970–1,008 km | 370 kW (496 hp) | 2,260–2,325 kg |
| BEV, dual-motor (AWD) | 820–880 km | 570 kW combined (764 hp) | 2,505 kg |
| PHEV (1.5L turbo + motor) | 370 km (EV-only) | 200 kW motor / 115 kW engine | 2,210–2,260 kg |
Both BEV versions use a 102.326 kWh battery pack weighing 725.9 kg — more than 30% of the car's total curb weight — built on BYD's Blade Battery architecture using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry. It's expected to be BYD's second-generation Blade Battery, which the company has paired with ultra-fast "flash charging" on other recent models. The PHEV version carries a much smaller 54.489 kWh LFP pack, good for roughly 370 km of electric-only range before its 1.5-liter turbocharged engine takes over.
Worth keeping in mind about that 1,008 km figure
- CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) ratings run meaningfully more generous than the EPA's U.S. test cycle
- Chinese CLTC range figures typically translate to roughly 25-30% lower under EPA-equivalent testing
- An EPA-equivalent estimate for the Da Han's longest-range trim would likely land closer to 700-750 miles-equivalent... in kilometers, roughly 720-755 km, not 1,008 km
- None of this means the car is dishonestly rated — CLTC is simply a different, less demanding standardized test than what U.S. buyers are used to
