Tesla Officially Cancels Cybertruck Range Extender, Begins Issuing Full Refunds

As of May 7, 2025, Tesla has begun notifying customers that the Cybertruck Range Extender accessory is no longer available for purchase. The option was quietly removed from Tesla's online configurator in early April without a public announcement.

Customers who placed a $2,000 deposit for the Range Extender will receive a full refund to their original payment method. No action is required from customers to initiate this refund process.

The Range Extender, a $16,000 add-on battery pack designed to increase the Cybertruck's range by approximately 120 miles, was initially slated for release in early 2025 but faced delays and was later removed from the configurator.

Tesla has not provided an official explanation for the removal of the Range Extender option.
